Customer Experience: How To Leverage Your Superpower

In the previous Episode 33, we discussed the significance of the customer experience, what it should be, and why every business should commit to making it everything it can be.

We discussed why a website is a poor substitute for a human-to-human customer experience.

That said, in a future episode we’ll discuss how virtual and augmented reality is going to change that and why you want to get ready now. If you are curious how this will work, check out Mark Zuckerberg’s recent virtual reality video (in the show notes below).

You’ll discover that the web experience will soon be quite real, and even more contextual than what you think of as reality today.

But before you consider those possibilities you have to take a hard look at the real-life customer experience with your business today. Is it everything it can be?

Does each and every customer get an experience that is personalized to their specific needs, wants, and desires?

The truth is most companies are ill-prepared for the future of digital because they have not defined how everything should work in the real world.

When you can do that you have the foundation for your brand story.

Unleash Your Super Power

Your brand story starts with you. In a world of product and service sameness, you are the reason your customers want to be aligned with your company.

Whatever that is, it’s what I like to call your superpower.

Your superpower is the one thing that makes you invincible in the hearts and minds of your customers. You probably know what this is, but to be sure, ask your best customers.

Then consider talking to people that are not your customer but should be, and learn how to connect the dots.

Within that gap is the story you must discover and perfect if you are going to grow your business beyond your current customer base.

Here’s why. Your current customers know, like and trust you. They get you because they know your story. The challenge is perfecting that story so that it resonates with complete strangers.

That brand story is content marketing.

It educates and inspires new customers to do business with you. It’s a mix of what you do, and most important, why you do it that is infused with your passion for getting beautiful results.

Show Notes

  • Watch the virtual reality video with Mark Zuckerberg. It gets especially interesting near the end when he involves his wife.

Call to Action

The call to action for this episode is to start building your brand story that promises an exceptional customer experience. You’ll need to name your superpower, and then examine past projects to start building that story with a beginning, middle and end structure.

I promise you this may prove to be the most important exercise you’ll ever undertake for growing your business.
